Perhaps, with most Zero employees working from home during the past year and not being able to collaborate in person at the factory, that may have had something to do with the lack of power train improvements.

True, except that it hasn't changed much since 2016 except for battery sizes.  I'm fairly certain Zero realized that OBC was a problem years, among a few other things.

I'm holding out hope for the actual 22MY launch later this year. If the trademark discoveries hold true, we might see a DSR/X announced, and potentially more. I'm sure we'll see an improved FX within the next five years, probably using some of the tech from the SRF in an FX like frame.
Seems to me like they're going to trickle that tech down their line. I think that's a sound strategy to get the most out of their investment. Batteries are a different beast, they're at the mercy of Farasis to provide new cells that are more energy dense in the same form factor. There's been some announcements there too this year, so maybe we'll see that soon.

Here is a link to a long and relatively objective review of the FXE by Revzilla: https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/2022-zero-fxe-first-ride-motorcycle-review

Can't justify the price !
What electric bike can you get with better stats at that price?

Sorry for not clarifying, but thought you might notice the 2022 FXE in my signature.

I figured that since you'd said the Zero was too expensive you must have meant some other competitor you were waiting on delivery of.

The new FXE is in my garage now next to the gas guzzlers and has 10 miles on it. It was cold with rain, so I pulled off the little side covers to get to the seat bolts to remove it and look around.

I was unable to pair my Samsung phone with the Zero app to the bike, just like at the dealer last Wednesday!  I will do some research and try again once the bike is inside the house for Winter, which will be soon.

The bike did NOT come with an owner's manual, but I found it online, so that is a good thing. No tool kit either!  There is a space under the seat for some small items.

I will be looking to add BarkBusters, tank bag and my extra mount for Garmin XT soon.

According to the website, the luggage rack for it is the same as the FX and FXS but seems like some butchering of those side plates will be necessary.  I found one in stock online and will try to contact them for some helpful information next week.

If anyone has any helpful hints about what I'm trying to do to this bike, I will really appreciate it! Thanks in advance! I will be off the grid for a few days tho..

My '16 FX came with a USB flash drive with the manual. Maybe they've discontinued that?

The Zero accessory bark busters (black Cycras) have been great and are mainly for wind protection since I don't get it Dirty.

The rack did require cutting a small arc out of the left rear panel. In retrospect, I should have done a little cleaner job.

I use the Givi E340 Vision Monolock Top Case (Matte), which is sized perfectly.

I'd recommend the Koso Apollo heated grips, for which I wrote an installation article somewhere on here. They're slightly pricey, but so perfectly integrated and transformative on cooler days.

My seat won't come off without wrenching. Have they changed that too?

My 2014S came with the owner's manual loaded on a flash drive, too. But not my 2018S. I had to download that document from Zero's website. (Paper and flash drives do cost money and cut into profits.  ::)  )

I might add that my 2020 KTM 390 Duke didn't come with an owner's manual, either. My dealer claimed that it might take a year before one was published for the bike. He was right. While I was able to find a 2019 manual on-line, it took a year before the 2020 manual was available to be downloaded electronically - not that anything changed much between the two years. No doubt if you were to ask the company about the lack of owner's manual, they would blame COVID, supply problems, or something similar.   :(

The FX/FXS rack typically comes with the plastic side pieces already cut out for the rack.  And you can order the color matched to your bike.   However, for the FXE, you should probably contact AF1 or another larger dealer and ask if that is available for the FXE.

If you need to modify your existing panels, you should probably use a hole saw.  Probably 1" would be a correct size.

The rack is not available for the FXE yet, and the Quick Charger is out of stock also! The rack for the FX and FXS is now NA and obsolete. A new one is supposedly being designed  :(

The bike is in the house now for Winter, so I decided to take the left cover off to look around. Two different size allen wrenches and a phillips head screwdriver required to remove 6 fasteners, then the cover can be removed.  ???

I installed the BarkBuster Warm Hands  https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/barkbusters-blizzard-universal-handguards?sku_id=970681. They fit good ! If I decide to get the Barkbuster rails, I can still use these

I also put the Wunderlich Handlebar Bag on from my old R1200GS  https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/wunderlich-handlebar-media-bag-bmw-motorcycle.html  Great product !!  For anyone that want to look at their stuff. It's located in Henderson, NC. I visited this past Summer when riding in the Smokies.
