In the first photo NetPro posted you can see the dial indicator probe is behind the outer face of the pulley. He is measuring the tooth just to the right of the bolt, I suspect he took measurements at each of the bolt locations.

That is exactly right: I used the readings from the tooth closest to each bolt for my adjustments.
I even thought of trueing the sprocket by building a jig holding a grinder perpendicular to the sprocket’s teeth but quickly gave up on that idea because the way the belt fits the sprocket: it would require reshaping the entire tooth, not just shaving material from the “tip” of the teeth.
