2019 FX Flasher Relay..... HELP!!!
« on: May 19, 2021, 08:05:36 PM »

Hey guys, I'm working on an fx.
whenever the ignition is on, the flasher relay clicks as though the indicators are on. The indicators work as they should, but the relay clicks all the time. ive changed the relay, same result.
Any advice would be great

Are you 100% certain that it is the flasher relay you're hearing? Try removing the relay and see if you still hear it.

If the flashers are working normally in every way possible (other than those clicks) I have doubts that the clicking you're hearing is coming from there. Perhaps it just sounds the same.

The flasher relay wil click when a smallish current is able to flow through the pins where the bulbs are connected to. So if there is moisture anywhere near the lights or near the pins of the flasher relay this behavior can occur.

It can also be a bad flasher relay.

Is the hazard switch on or malfunctioning?

I second the idea of water or corrosion in either one of the switches (turn signal or hazard) allowing a leakage current from the flasher output to ground, probably through one of the bulbs, which would be too dim to see. I'd suggest removing the bulbs to narrow it down, but that's a pain because there are three left and three right including the dash indicators. Dismantle the controls on the left handlebar (where I believe there should be a ten-pin connector) and hit all switches and connectors with contact cleaner or WD-40.

Are you hearing a constant clicking or just a couple times? When you turn the key on, you should hear the contactor on each pack close. It only does it once per pack. Mine is the 2 module 5.7 so I’ll hear it click on and sometimes both happen simultaneously or sometimes it’ll click click. Same when you plug in the charger.
