DSR 2018 - squeaking sound when accelerating
« on: April 14, 2021, 06:48:13 AM »

Hi,

Anyone had issues with squeaking sound when accelarating with Zero DSR or any other models. It is not coming from the brakes i am sure but cannot located if it is coming from front or rear wheel. Sounds like a lack of lubricant somewhere although belt should not be lubricated from what i could gather here. Is there any other parts that I should be checking for lack of lubricant? Bearings maybe? Any ideas?

Sounds like it could be belt alignment.

Never put anything on the belt.

Except soap and water. Cleaning your belt with a mild detergent and then flushing it with water might help.

I wouldn't even use soap, even though I think it says it is okay in the manual.

I have more than 12,000 miles on both of my Zeros and all I do is check the alignment and how tight it is once in a while. No belt issues as of yet.

Well, soap would remove any oils that might get on it.

How tight is the belt (now or past)?
How many miles on the belt? (Likely not an issue but I believe Zero recommends replacement @ 14k miles (-+2k but can’t remember which way).

I would suspect tight belt past or present.
