Charging with Tesla Tap with Zeros with Pwr Tank
« on: March 11, 2021, 03:26:04 AM »

I never knew this was my problem at some, but not all, Tesla Destination Chargers, with my Zero SR with Pwr Tank.

Something about the pilot signal when there is a power tank on a Zero at SOME  Tesla destination chargers. The problem I sometimes had was the Tesla Destination station would shut off in five minutes. Imagine what it is like to see your bike charging just fine and going to a restaurant and coming back to find you only had a five minute charge added in almost an hour. This has happened to me a few times. Since then , I have been waiting around six or seven minutes before leaving.

I just now ordered this.

Note  where it says:

"This adapter is useable with any EV's but is required for EV's known to be very picky about their pilot signal like:

Chrysler Pacifica
Zero Motorcycles (Power Tank)
Jaguar I-Pace"

Doesn't look that large to me.  We can compare to the size of the Tesla inlet and the NEMA 14-50 to figure out the total size of the box.

So, yeah, I plan on keeping it with my Zero SR. I will remove the Tesla-Tap I carry in there. I already have the cables to charge via 14-50.

My SR has side bags, travel trunk and tank bag, so it has plenty of room to carry stuff, including my two 3.3 KW external  chargers.
