Taiwan orders a boat-load of Energicas
« on: February 01, 2021, 08:55:39 PM »

It looks like the Energica importer in Taiwan has ordered 836K Euros (about $950K USD) worth of bikes from the factory. That was a bit of a surprise to me as I had always thought that small city scooters were the big thing in Taiwan. But apparently not entirely.

We have no idea what the ASP is, but I doubt <€15K per bike (the cheapest model, the EsseEsse9 13kWh, is €16400 pre-VAT); so that's 60 bikes at most.
A large number w.r.t. what I'd have guessed at -- Taiwan has 2x scooters & mopeds as cars, and the government seems to be focused on electrifying them rather than cars at present.

Thus Chademo.

As far as I'm aware Taiwan uses the CCS1 charging standard along with US & Korea.

The importer held a press conference today.
They import all 3 models with bigger 21.5kWh battery.

The price is astonishing...

Esse NTD 1.268M -> USD 45.2K
Eva Ribelle NTD 1.468M -> USD 52.4K
EGO NTD 1.98M -> USD 70.7K

Damn, these bikes are so expensive :'(

Ouch! That is expensive.   :(  I wonder if the higher cost is because of shipping or because of tariffs?  ???

Will that cause an even larger shortage of Energicas in the USA?

I hear the reason why there are so few dealers in the USA is because Energica doesn't make enough bikes to supply many dealers.
