Careful, you only ever get to read 4 free Forbes articles.   ;)

Fran K if these bikes aren't for you, that's fine.

Do you think only Zero and Energica can make an electric bike?
Harley?

Companies that make gas vehicles will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into electric.  Some of them won't be able to make it work.
Startups will be the next wave of good EVs.  A clean sheet of paper for a business model is a lot easier than typing over the old business model with a new one.
Makes it real hard to read.  :)

I have a KTM freeride at this time.  I am 5"10 or 5"11 inches and 170-180 pounds and 66 years old.  If I was larger I might have got an Alta.   At the time Alta only offered a choice with no kick stand and an 19 inch rear tire.  It also turned they sold others bikes if what is posted on ktm talk for $2000 less than they would sell to me and I would have to pay sales tax in Mass where I do not live.  The ktm shop, I dealt with the owner, The salesman who has other duties enters events the trail rider club I belong to promote.   The Zero store fronts I have been in contact with the one in Enfield Ct the salesman wants to argue, and same with the one I spoke on the phone north of Pittsburg.  Yamaha does make a electric trials bike, and compete in a small series, came in second to I believe Gas Gas which Ktm or perhaps it's owners investment group recently purchaced.

But yes I think folks should be in airplanes instead of on motorcycles to go real fast.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I'm just not interested in small bikes with small batteries.  I want more.

If you want a REALLY big battery but willing compromise a bit on the weight you can get a Brutus V9 with a 33.7 kWh battery! It looks a lot more like a Harley Davidson than the Livewire does! Check out: http://brutusmotorcycle.com/brutusV9.html

Yeah, thirty would be perfect.  That could get two hours on the freeway to a non-charging location and then back.

There would be nearly zero cases for a gas bike if that existed.

Exactly. That's "the singularity", I reckon. 10 years off maybe? I'm going to be old :(

Princec, be sure and pass that one along when you see it.

Ultrarnr, 92ft lbs of torque pushing almost 900lbs?  No thanks.  That thing must have batteries in the side cases.

Crissa that Brutus thing he linked to has it, I guess

New2elec,  There is a video on YouTube that shows the 33.7 kWh battery on the V-9. It isn't in the side cases but it sticks out a LOT. I would love to test ride one but Bell Custom Cycles is in Nevada and not willing to go that far for a test ride. Heard of a case of someone who had one and took it to a Livewire demo and got asked to leave. People saw it and thought it was the Livewire. For folks who are really hung up on big cruisers it is a great fit. In what looks like the exhaust pips are actually speakers. So you can have it sound like a big V-Twin. Would be great if you are cruising the streets at Sturgis.

Is The article is not mentioning Energica at all and putting Zero as the main competitor? Also not discussing radar on Multistrada vs CoPilot. Shouldn't we expect more from journalists?

We should, but then nobody pays them any more for their actual journalism, so anyone sensible has left to find a job with a credible salary.

Ok so the Brutus with the exposed Tesla battery modules is a hard no for me.  Someone made a 30kWh bike but they shouldn't have.
Moving on.

llukas, I think we've seen these types of articles before.  We know how they work and it is what it is.
Damon is not in production at this point and don't claim to be for about another year.  The article just gives a little more info on the bikes and the company.  The fact that Bill Roberson had at least rode the test mule bike with Copilot and Shift at least shows these aren't merely design goal ideas but working in the real world over a year ago.

The author used the Zero as a comparison maybe because he had not ridden an Energica.  I don't know his back ground just passing alone some more info on Damon.

But one point about Copilot, it's part of an AI system not just a blind spot warning radar.  Again just like Tesla they want to map bad intersections and crowded roads to add data to their cloud.

Journalism is different than PR as it puts things into proper context. PR is omitting right details at right time. Maybe it is better to discuss Damon in context rather just transmit their PR?

CoPilot features over Bosch:
+ fancy screen and cameras
+ spying
- adaptive cruise control
- not available until at least 2022
