I picked up my 2020 SR/S Premium last Friday from MotoZ in Elma, NY, and have already put on about 200 miles.  I wanted an around town bike, and the SR/S does exactly what I need it to.  But, like any new toy, nothing is perfect, so I'm already planning a few changes.  These include a new horn (top priority) and a tank pad.  Regarding the latter, R&G makes a nice set for the SR/F which I believe will also fit the SR/S.  In looking at the parts catalogs for both models, the rear tank panels and charger inlet covers have the same part numbers except for the color code digits.  Once I get a handle on the wiring scheme I hope to swap the functions of the hazard switch on the left with the cruise control switch on the right to avoid the problems with abrupt throttle inputs while using cruise control.  I'm also planning to add TPMS.

I change my own tires, and as a result I will need a front stand to get the front wheel off the ground.  Any recommendations along this line will be appreciated.  And finally, can someone tell me how to access the front accessory connector?  Thanks in advance.

I don't own one, but the Zero SR/S is my favorite bike from Zero.

Were you aware there is a centerstand available for the Zero SR/S? However, I do not know how much it helps with from wheel removal on the SR/F.  But usually, it takes little more, if anything,  when you have a centerstand,  to remove a wheel.

Zero horns are very mickey-mouse, but I think mice can make more noise than Zero's horns. Put your relay coil in place of the old horn then wire in the rest.   At least that part is very simple. Where to mount them will probably be the hard part. If you want loud dual horns, you will need a horn relay.

I changed the horns in all my electric bikes. But they are different than your SR/S. And mine are loud!

DonTon and Crissa,

Thanks to both for your replies.  My bike has the centerstand, which lifts the rear wheel off the ground, so removing the rear wheel is simple.  My BMW works the same way.  To remove the front wheel on the Beemer I use a scissors jack under the motor to raise the front, but the SR/S bodywork makes that impossible.

The cruise control button extension thread looks promising, and will be easier than messing with the factory wiring.

* Horn :
Both my DSR and SR/F factory horns were a meep-meep roadrunner joke. Truly Embarrassing.
I replaced the factory horn with a Stebel TM80/1 410 Hz on my late DSR, and transferred it last year to the SR/F (tight fit). Not sure whether it fits the SR/S.

I can assure you, car drivers now pay attention when you touch the horn. Impossible to ignore.

IMO, this ticks all ergonomic boxes.

Honestly, most of the time I need a quieter horn.  Like a bicycle bell or something to tell people to glance in my direction and not open their doors.

Daily commuter traffic, noise-isolated cars, xxx W sound systems, smartphones.
My experience is, the factory-installed horn doesn't penetrate this wall of ignorance.

I don't recall where you're located, but I wonder if some countries, such as in Europe have a spec for how loud a horn must be.

They certainly have no such spec here in the USA.  And Zero is the worst of the worst of weak horns. At least on my two Zeros, which was the first things I changed.

I'm in the UK so Euro regulations would apply, so it could indeed be that.

Whilst trying to find if such a regulation exists (unsuccesfully) I did find this article which shows that manufacturer's volume claims probably shouldn't be trusted. Interestingly the Stebel (which didierm mentioned) was quite a lot lower than the claimed volume and not really any better than the stock Ducati horn. If I can get out over the weekend and find somewhere isolated I'll see if I can get some measurements of the Zero horn.

I am pretty sure that Japan DOT has a low horn noise limit. Perhaps Zero is conforming to the lowest worldwide common denominator.

All safety equipment is like that. How often do you need a motorcycle helmet? ABS or traction control?  A kill switch? A sidestand safety switch?

Seat belts, hard hat, the list goes on and on.

One time can make the difference between being dead or alive, for perhaps the last 30 years!

I bought a new SRS two weeks ago.
Hopefully we can help each other out with observations.
My idea for changing the front was to push the back down over the center stand.
I have not tried that yet as the tires are still new.
