Can I swap SR/F footpegs with SR/S ones?
« on: August 18, 2020, 02:07:08 AM »

Sorry if this has been answered. I've heard the SR/S footpegs are lower than SR/F. So my questions are:

1. Is that true, and if so, by how much?
2. Can I swap them out?
3. What would that entail, is it easy, and can I order the parts and do it myself?

Thanks everyone for this great forum,
G

They are indeed lower, by about 3/4" according to another member. There's a comparison image here: https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?topic=10259.msg94079#msg94079

You can buy the full kit from AF1 (they also say it's 3/4" lower) which includes the pegs, pins, springs, circlips, and a brake pedal which I think is also lower (looks straighter where as the SR/F pedal curves up). Should be a fairly easy job, probably want to by some circlip pliers instead of trying to pry them off with a flat blade screwdriver.

I did it.  10 minute job.  It was worth it to me.  I paid $85 shipped from my dealer.

I'm waiting on a price from my dealer for this (and a charge tank) but yes it's listed as compatible in the online zero catalog.

I did that too. Very easy if you can use a snap ring pliers. I only had a needle nose pliers but that did the job as well. One more thing I did, out of the experience with the old ones, was to curb back the spring coil end, with heat and a hammer, before mounting so that the pointy edge does not enter in my soles. That is only an issue for the right side before those springs are identical for both sides but should have been symmetrical.

These lower foot pegs have the added bonus that they are made flatter than the original ones. I am 188 cm tall user the higher SR/F seat and I can definitely feel the difference.

I installed them but had an issue with the brake pedal.

The original has what looks like a plastic lining in the hole that the bolt and spacer for through but the new one does not. That lining sticks out a bit so the bolt tightens nicely, but with the new one in place the bolt tightens down before making contact with the pedal so the pedal is loose. I put a washer on which seems to do the job ok but you can’t tighten the bolt all the way or the pedal sticks. Am I missing something?

The photo for the SR/F brake pedal on AF1 doesn't show the plastic liner either. Can you not remove it from the pedal? If not, looking at the parts catalogue I believe this is the part you're after. Unfortunately it's a 3-4 week wait.

Yes, now I remember those plastic pieces and was slightly annoyed that Zero omitted them in the new kit. It was however not too difficult to reuse them in the newer version as the fitting is identical in this regard.

How did you get the original ones off the initial pegs? They seem glued on.

First I sprayed some silicon fluid then used a blade, not too sharp so as not cutting into the plastic but thin enough to enter the crease and slowly enlarge it. Again, it was silly from Zero to have forgotten including these two pieces in their kit.
