Round headlight mounting bracket
« on: June 26, 2020, 05:26:12 AM »

Hope all are doing well! I bought a round headlamp with universal brackets earlier this year to try to fit on my 2018 S. But the lump of wiring inside the factory headlight housing seem to be making it difficult for me to fit the new headlight. I know many owners have been successfully able to install a different headlight with compatible brackets. Could you please share the brackets you all have used and I can check which one would go with the headlight I have? Thanks in advance!

Hollywood Electric had a face to replace the front plastic for the S line to solve the issue and allow a round mounting but I haven't had any success in inquiring after it.

Sorry but had to bump this thread. Hollywood Electrics said they do not stock these parts anymore. Any other suggestions? Brackets that would push out the headlight by an inch or so would definitely be helpful!

Aww.

Well, that answers that, I suppose.

If someone knows how to fabricate... Well, I'm still interested.

I had that motodemic kit on my Triumph Street Triple. Very nice hardware. Just make sure the clamp diameter exactly matches your fork tube and you're good. They snap in place very nicely.

If the mount won’t be seen (covered by faring), I would try cobbling together a mount with 8 stainless steel worm drive hose clamps (or perhaps custom clamps from strips of SS with square washers, screw & lock nut).
Heavy gauge flat &/or angle stock for the bracket.

I recently found those brackets on my quest to find a suitable solution to replace the stock headlight on my 16DSR.
I just ordered this....
https://www.jwspeaker.com/products/adaptive-led-headlights-model-8691-adaptive-2/
Now to figure out how to mount to the bike & incorporate to the housing.

Now just need to figure out how to cover the wiring harness so it's not exposed to weather!

Not looking forward to that part :-\

The stock headlight will have to be carved to accommodate the J.W. Speaker light.
Maybe I should hone my carving skills on some 🎃

You could probably stuff the wires inside the tank, run them along side and tied to the front brake hose that goes to the ABS pump.

I’m planing on carving a 5.xx” round in the OEM headlight assembly just missing the mounting tabs & retaining the top running light.
The cowling should still work to hide the backside of the new light.

I already have a busy tank & behind headlight area with aux driving & running/turn lights, extra horns, as well as a garage door transponder.

Contact, REO engineering in Nashua, NH. They fabricated brackets for me based off Burton Rosenberger's design. Mounts easily to Zero's S and SR's. They have the specs n file, just call them and order a set.
