It looks like Energica orders are up 125% compared with last year:

And the lesson to be learned is: big battery = big sales.

The bikes already had CCS charging, which is nice where it can be used,  but people want enough battery to go where they want and at the speed they want and skip a charging stop all together when possible.

More good news from Energia. In Italy, they are back in Business.  I just received an e-mail from them.

The main part we're interested in:

"For our U.S. customers, Pre-Sale Order production will ramp up again at “full charge” with the next shipment of 2021MY units arriving here in Redwood City at the end of May.  We’ll keep you fully informed of the production process, and announce when the container ship has left the Port of Genoa.  It’s now anticipated that all current U.S. Pre-Sales will be accommodated by the end of June.  Then we’ll then start providing demo bikes for Energica dealers to satisfy the demand for U.S. riders to test ride the most sophisticated, fastest and longest-range electric motorcycles in the world."

True, it’s taking longer for most of us in the US to get our pre-orders but unlike another company, at least we’re getting a clear reason for the delay and a revised timeline for deliveries.

Normally I would be getting impatient and a bit angry by now but since I can’t really ride a new bike at this time anyway, I’m not giving Energica any grief over the delays.

I would say they have a pretty good excuse for the delays!

Now if only California would open up the trucking industry so those Energica's sitting there can get shipped to the east coast!

Why would the trucking be closed for motorcycles? Motorcycles are automotive and are considered essential. All the motorcycle shops are open here in CA, as least the several that I have been to in the last few weeks. Both here in CA as well as in NV.

Well even more than that, why would a bike go from Italy to CA then back to NC when the US HQ is in NC?  :)
It will be here soon.  Think of it like Christmas.

When I checked on delivery updates for my Ribelle my dealer was told Energica was having a tough time finding a trucking company who could get some of the bikes shipped to the east coast. I didn't think the trucking industry was being restricted in any way but I would have my bike by now if they weren't.

US HQ is, I think, an office building in NC. The US team is all based in CA, and since that's where the docks are I believe the bikes ship to CA, not NC.

Europe is the same thing...

I can understand restriction on travelling passengers and some goods (medical supplies, etc); but everything else was also restricted and it makes no sense. A lorry driver can keep on working with minimal risk

Truck drivers are a vector.  We've lost a few - like the grocery store that was closed here a couple weeks ago.

But they're essential so...

Yeah.  Some states were facing sales and delivery differently.  In CA, they weren't supposed to do new sales on vehicles not already in stock, which would mean the bikes on the dock didn't count unless they were already sold.

The business section of my newspaper today had an article about independent truckers having a tough time finding loads to haul and also getting the short end of the pandemic financial support stick. They say that the system is set up more for the big trucking companies. One trucker that they interviewed said that his business has been cut in half and he can no longer make a profit in today's reduced economy. It seems likely to me that Energica would contract with one of these independent truckers to haul their few bikes around the country, rather than going with a big firm. Perhaps the complication of hauling loads by these small mom and pop operations is slowing down deliveries when shipping bikes across the U.S.  ???
