Large screen mounting on SRF handle bar?
« on: March 09, 2020, 10:03:59 PM »

Anybody has managed to mount something like an ipad mini on the SRF handle bar? Wondering if it's too big?
Might be nice to have access to maps, bike settings ect…

I have my iPhone on an Quad Lock mount.
I use Waze navigation and the phone has enough real-estate for that.
Settings?  What settings are available  to be set by mobile during a ride?

An iPad could have both apps open on the screen at once.

I have a Galaxy Note 9 in a Ram mount.  TBH, I am not sure if I would go much bigger than that.  My Note just makes it without blocking the dashboard.  There is not too much space on the handlebar (I also have a windshield mounted) so there is a limited area to mount it.  If I turn my note horizontal, I can't see 1/2 of my dash.  I have to leave it in profile mode.  Maybe if I didn't have the windshield mounts, I may be able to move it more to the outside and have more room but it is tight.

Size could be an issue indeed.
Can you post photos of your current setup to give an idea of what we're looking at?

As you can see, I have a lot going on with my handlebars between the phone, camera and windshield mount.  Real estate is getting very tight.

That's why I asked which bike. I was not sure with a windscreen.
How did you manage to install a windscreen on an SRF?

Based on the recommendation of another forum member I went with National Cycle Deflector.  The one I got was tinted with the quick set 7/8" mounting.  It took some time and adjustment to get it fit right  but it fits nice.  It is a small sportbike shield but it does really help on the highway without taking away from the looks.

How about sticking it on the tank lid? You could get a Quadlock mount, they do an adhesive mount for both sides.

never a fan of double sided tape. The type of thing that suddenly flies out on the freeway one day...

You've just gotta have faith. Modern brand name adhesives are surprisingly strong (Quadlock uses 3M).
