Nice video! But I admit feeling let down by the lack of an actual TIE fighter sound. ;)

Maybe I should finally finish that tinkering project (that required dozens of tiny crimps and lots of wiring fiddling...).

I have all the PCM samples I can deal with - the issue is editing them into a loopable sound that changes reasonably well with speed. The http://eveess.com/ kit is what I have in a box to assemble and program. We'll see if I finally get to it.

Oh, and obviously there are copyright+trademark issues with LucasFilm/ILM.

As long as you're not redistributing it, they have no claim.  Their has to be some financial interest of theirs you could be damaging, and it would be a stretch to say since they have no such product nor is there any obvious connection to say you're damaging their reputation.

In other words, this is hecka fair use / transformative art.

In addition to Jetsons, I'd be installing Crazy Frog (which is my ringtone for my motorcycle friend):

Sounds just like my first few motorcycles and also my 2004 Aprilia RS50 before it got electrified.

You seem to be in really deep. I'm still on the absolute surface...
I'm still looking forward to my first ride on my SR/F (being the first ride on a motorcycle ever ...). Waiting for April ...

The audio from the Crazy Frog was used many years ago on a " Why Lamborghini shouldn't out sourse " meme

Aaaaaaah, this topic makes me want to go back to an old project I had :
Developping a software to have some stupid sounds reactive to the speed and throttle movements (for a linux phone or an embedded raspberry pi connected to speakers)
The crazy frog or the TIE fighter sounds would be perfect :D

At the time I reached out to Zero to ask them informations about the bluetooth protocol ... but apparently it's a "secret of production which result of an incomparable driving pleasure"   :o

I'm not enough motivated to retro-engineer the bluetooth protocol which should not be that hard (but still annoying thing to waste time on)
If someone already did that, I'm interested !

Actually, one guy used thez TIE fighter sounds for his e-car xD :

The bluetooth protocol has been decoded before, for the Metrics For Zero Motorcycles app on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mc.zero&hl=en_US

However, it doesn't work on iOS because of the way Apple demands that Bluetooth-using apps be officially endorsed by the MFi registrar, which in this case is Zero, and we couldn't get Zero comfortable with that.

So, okay, we could make an Android app that does this, which is probably fine for the pedestrian-warning functionality at low speeds. That is a way easier option to implement than the SoundRacer wiring.

The Metrics For Zero Motorcycles app has that data so there is some way to get it. Not sure if you can piggy back off the data that that app is receiving (I don't know shit when it comes to software), maybe contact the dev and see what they have to say.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mc.zero&hl=en

I'd certainly be interested in some reactive sounds to have some fun with, although I think if I heard the crazy frog again I'd put myself into the closest wall as fast as possible. Tie fighter would be cool though, as would imitating various ICE bikes.

EDIT: Dammit Brian, you beat me this time
