Givi Top (and Side) Cases
« on: February 12, 2020, 01:09:15 AM »

I saw a picture of an Eva with Givi hard side and top cases. I know the Energica side cases for the EsseEsse9 and new Ribelle are Givi Soft-T rigid soft cases but as far as I know, the mounting rails won’t work for their monolock or monokey line of hard cases.

Does anyone know the particular monolock/monokey side rails and top rack that would bolt right on to the EsseEsse9/Ribelle? I would prefer a bolt on solution as opposed to something requiring any jury-rigging.

Thanks in advance...

electricmotorcycles.nl is making these frames in a small batch.

I'm from the Netherlands and helped the importer here to make a few frames before. They just started to improve the fitting.

It's unbelievable that energica is not offering hard cases with a decent volume.

It's impressive that the importer is doing this themselves -- but a bit odd that they seem to be targeting only the Trekker-type rectangular cases, which don't match the Energica bikes visually; personally, I'd use Givi E360 (40-liter) or E460 (46-liter) as panniers on the Monokey racks. They're also good as topcases.
I'm not that surprised Energica isn't yet doing this -- they do have a sportbike orientation, rather than sport-touring, or all-purpose bike.

Thanks Jerd, I’ll check out electricmotorcycles.nl this weekend.

Wavelet, I think that if their racks support the Trekker cases, it should support any monokey/monolock case but I could be wrong.

Like I said, definitely going to check them out and see if I can get a top-case kit. I’m fine with the Energica-offered side cases except for the internal shape. I just need a 25l-30l hard top case so I can fit my laptop in there for the daily commute. I actually don’t want a larger top case since I want to keep the aesthetics smaller...if that makes sense. Not sure how to verbalize it.

Recall that there are three incompatible Givi "Monokey" systems: The classic one, one for the Trekker Outback cases (a.k.a. Monokey Cam-Side) and the "Monokey PLX" (for the V35/V37 only).  The web page on electricmotorcycles.nl  is here
https://electricmotorcycles.nl/producten/123/energica-esseesse9-givi-trekker-kofferset?categoryId=3
I speak German but not Dutch, so could have misunderstood something, but apparently they offer mounts for the first two types, but it's not clear if they sell them separately from the cases, and there's also a comment that the top case mount requires the side case mounts.

OTOH, I did find in their listing of used bikes pics of an Eva with Givi V35 cases, so they did do at least one set of PLX mounts as well: here.
I think that setup looks really nice, BTW, and complements the bike, although might not look as good with the bags off. They look like fixed mounts, so not removable like the Givi PLXR series.
