When are they going to fix this forum?
« on: October 12, 2019, 01:13:38 AM »

This forum is difficult to use, as many of us have noticed. I often type my messages in Windows Notepad and copy them here, as that works a lot better that typing in these boxes with no word wrap and no way to scroll to the right. That's what I am doing right now, using Notepad.

So when is this bug going to be fixed? What is the issue?

Hi Don, is this still an issue? I believe it is fixed as I don't see the same anymore.

The root cause was most likely the move to https. There was a theme setting I missed. Sorry about that all!

When was it fixed? Typing this message is the first time I got any word wrap in several days. All seems to be fine now, thanks.

Fixed!

It's always surprising what's broken by such a tiny change.  Thank you for upgrading the forum!

I, for one, apologize for griping about the forum being broken...and I never did. But I'm still sorry.

We appreciate all your work, skadamo, for which you get paid nothing. If we didn't love this forum, we wouldn't care about it being broken.

Thanks so much for all the work you've put in over the years. And we're really trying to help you, by giving you feedback, not just being gripey. We do love this forum and want it to be perfect. That's what it, and you, deserve.

I was just afraid it would stay that way if some people didn't complain.

Thanks for the great job you have been doing here!  I, and no doubt all of us, appreciate it.

Haha that works for me! I appreciate you and everyone who keeps the forum going with visits and posts. I deserve a little flack if the forum is not up to par. 😂

All, let me know if anything else needs attention or clean up...

Skadamo, I just want to add my thanks to you.

I really learn so much by reading this forum!

And I would like to include the other forum members into my appretiation, who help with their replys and with sharing their knowledge. Such as .... well, I can't mention you / them all here.

However, I'd like to mention Brian: Thanks very much for the Unofficial Zero Manual. And best wishes for your further recovery!

I can only login to the forum in a private Firefox window, my regular one sees some sort of auth/cookie error resulting in "Sorry, but you've reached your login attempts threshold. Please wait 30 seconds and try again later." and "Hello, [blank]" with no username in a half logged-in state.  I think I saw this complaint in its own thread, but am having too much difficulty using EMF right now.

Have you tried clicking on the forum link like https://www.electricmotorcycleforum.com/boards/index.php?board=1.0 to see if you're not just seeing a messed up page render?  When I arrive in Safari, it sometimes is half logged in but just clicking on a plain forum url will complete the read of the cookie.  On mobile, I don't have any problem.

Otherwise, you should purge your electricmotorcycleforum.com cookies and then go to one of the base forums, reload, and then log in.

Thank enaef! I appreciate all the members who post great information.

I changed the name of the website cookie which might help. Also made some changes around cookie settings. I hope it helps. As mentioned, clearing cookies may have also resolved for you...

I was having the same problem at times just after the New Year, but now everything is back to normal again. Thanks.   :)
