Zero FX 2014 - reverse engineering the dashboard wiring
« on: October 25, 2019, 04:27:16 PM »

Hi all,
I have a FX14 and on a mission of building a replacement dashboard since mine has had gone bad...

I tried to compare my dashboard wiring to the diagram (2016 FX diagram by Keith https://zeromanual.com/wiki/2016_X-Platform_Wiring_Diagram) and found that the wire colors and numbering are not the same, I thought it would be similar except for the ABS light but it doesn't seem to be the case.

How do you figure out which wire does what for the dashboard?

I attaching pictures of the wires on the dashboard and the connector hoping someone might be able to help.

Thank you so much!

Nice. I believe there is a known revision of the dashboard across FX/FXS and S/DS/SR/DSR bikes from 2014 to 2015 (please correct if my memory is off).

It would be worth documenting this if we can. I'm not sure what to recommend except to contact Keith about his techniques.

I guess we should try publishing these techniques to keep up to date with newer revisions, too.
