I found this test ride from a true Harley rider.

Maybe not much in the way of tech specs but the common excited reaction to the electric drive train is there in full view.

That guy's audio pickup is really good.  This is hilarious.  "I shouldn't have ridden this!"  Hehe.

His normal street ride is very quiet, too.  This is a great comparison.

At least they're making it look like it's worth what they're charging for it.

It's obvious to me that this was his very first time on ANY electric motorcycle.

That's no "real" Harley rider! He wears a full-face helmet (though not always gloves), and he stops and even looks both ways at every stop sign (except in the parking lot).

That sounds like a No True Scotsman logical fallacy

Yeah, totally.  But clearly into up, but appreciates the Harley controls.  Not going with your standard layout would be a big mistake, I think, and this video points that out.  Even without talking about 'leveraging your existing supply chain' that I've heard.  An electric does have some different UI, and it should, but the basic stuff should just be the same stuff that's on their current models.  That's the hurdle that like Nissan and some others gave themselves when going electric.

This kind of video is like gold to any marketer, though.

But this guy is an existing H-D customer, not the new customer H-D was hoping to attract with the LiveWire.

This guys commentary is so great. Seems like a really cool genuine guy. He would probably get a kick out of any electric motorcycle, but glad we got to see him ride the LiveWire.

This is the exact guy they want coming back and buying a $25,000 bike when he wouldn't have otherwise.

Closer to 30K$. Out the door perhaps around 33K$.   LiveWire prices will start at $29,799.00.

Over-priced, IMO.

The press is making a huge deal about Harley trying to appeal to new riders with the LiveWire, and of course they'd love to. But they'll be thrilled to sell the bike to anybody, current Harley rider or no. I agree with Crissa that this guy seems like a great potential buyer. He seems like he's got one foot in the water already.

It really does suck it's so expensive as I have a bad feeling of the long term viability of this specific model. Potentially Harley could 'pull the plug on' them due to extremely low sales. I do think they will stay in the EV game with other bikes/cheaper options/bicycles etc.

The good news is, if sales are truly bad, I could see them doing killer deals on them in the future just to move units. Expensive showroom bikes are not something any company wants.

One catch 22 with existing Harley riders is many of them have expensive bikes. Touring rigs from Harley are not cheap, and most of the mid-to-high tier models start around $14k+ before tax and license. So, Harley riders are willing to spend money - but that also means they either need to ditch their current bike or have enough disposable income to afford two relatively expensive motorcycles.

The guy in the video is the type of Harley guy I like.  They enjoy the brand and the vibe that goes with it but doesn't cross over into crazed fan territory.  Plus I always like watching these review videos of people who have never ridden electric and hear them squeal and laugh at the feel of the ride.  They still have drawbacks but they are fun to ride.

As for sales I still feel like the $30k price is just to get the very rich and or collectors who may just want to throw it in their garage with the rest of the new bikes they never ride and will sale in 50 years for a profit.  Successful or not it will be a page in the Harley history.
If they scream low sales and stop making them early then it is even more collectable.
If they do sale within realistic numbers I say the price is sub $24k by next summer.
