Now that my FXS has gone (destroyed by a careless car driver) I've started thinking about what to replace it with. A Ducati Hypermotard 950 (later model of the one pictured) is currently top of the list.

For those wondering why not stay electric, the reasons are:
 - difficulty getting insurance on electric bikes in the UK
 - the FXS is restricted at the bottom end so it doesn't wheelie
 - the SR/F is too expensive for the use I'd get from it
 - I just feel like a change

I would never have got rid of my FXS if it hadn't been taken from me.

My spouse has a Ducati Icon as well as my S.  I do like riding on the back of it, but from what I can tell, the Ducatis are geared very much for what they do.  So the Icon is like, all high gears it feels like, kind of the opposite of our old Honda CB Custom which was all low and had some lower.  The Icon is also all acceleration all the time so I'm not even going to try to drive it until I have alot more skill.  And it's their bottom bike!

I don't know the gearing on the hyper, but basically, they do seem to be a bit more dixed in what they do than the Zeros.

Don't forget that used bikes are a thing!  Keep an eye out for someone trading up or something.

My spouse is already starting to get annoyed at needing gasoline all the time.  Hehe!

Who would pay to develop such a kit? We can fantasize about design but someone has to fabricate and replicate a design.

I think Hollywood Electrics would prefer that you buy the kit they’ve already spent at least a year developing and learning to fabricate well.

What I mean is, good luck convincing them (or anyone else who can see how the Zero aftermarket works) to make it when they’ve already probably lost money making a fairing kit that you didn’t buy.

They've sold every body kit they've developed so far. Who's to say they just haven't found a design that enough people like to produce more than one?

That's a weirdly-not-even-wrong sentence construction you've got there. They may have sold every fairing they made from the mold, but the point is that you have to drum up and market and measure interest before proving you can make a kit for less than theirs by selling enough of them.

The bracketing work they did was valuable and not easy to reproduce, either, and that's exactly what you're going to struggle with.
