SR/F New Rider First Impressions
« on: February 09, 2020, 12:28:16 AM »

First 50 miles on SR/F. Obviously these are only early impressions:

- overall happy
- doesn’t feel quite as dramatically different of riding experience from previous Zeros as I expected
- at 5’11, 235lbs, I’m not thrilled with the riding position... more forward than I expected, I prefer more of an alignment between feet, hips, shoulders etc. Feels strained on lower back to lean so far forward
- pegs a little too high
- handle bars a little too forward
- rear brake feels mushy and soft without much bite
- front brakes huge improvement lots of bite
- rear tire instills a lot more confidence under acceleration
- looks awesome
- headlight led game changer at night
- I feel street mode is just right for daily riding, equal to sport in previous zero bikes

Overall happy with the purchase, despite a few initial disappointments

You may want to try installing the Rox bar risers.  They bring the bar up 1 1/2" and back 1"  You can install without lengthening cables, just freeing them up a little.  It has made all the difference in the riding position for me.  My wrists used to get numb after a while. Not with the risers.  I am going to look into Zero's peg lowering kit now.  Just to give you a reference point,  I am 5'-11" and 238 lbs and used to riding cruiser type bikes.

I noticed a large difference with the performance with the SR/F based on one short test ride in the Sport Mode.  But all your other stuff, yeah, I can say the same about it's lack of comfort. But the seat has to be better on the SR/F than my SR and DS. My biggest complaint was the high foot pegs and the sporty riding position on the SR/F.

Shortly after a test ride on the SR/F I did a test ride on the Energica. Obviously, I liked the Energica a lot better in just about every way possible. Of course, many others will like the SR/F better. A lot of it is how it fits and what we are used to. I am not into sport bikes and I didn't expect the SR/F to be like one--but it is.

+1 on the risers.  Made a big difference for me, and very easy to install.  I agree on the rest other than performance.  I can't really compare to an SR directly, but compared to my '16 DSR, it has way more pull, especially at higher speeds.  I also find the seat is good for me, I upgraded my DSR to a Corbin, but won't be looking for an upgrade on the SR/F.
