Zero 2014-2016 Storage Tanks
« on: September 30, 2019, 11:58:23 PM »

October 2020 Update:  Remaining:
Two black storage tanks, missing zippered pouch, missing letter R and E.

With my used bike I got two spare belts and five Storage Tanks.  I'm wiling to give these up to people who need the parts; my spouse wants to paint one, but I don't really need more than that.  If I had the yellow fenders, I might put the yellow one on my bike, but I don't have them.

I have had five.  The red one is an SR tank, and has a loose R from the logo.  One of the black tanks has a white paint smudge on it and is missing the 'R's from the logo.  The rest are fine.  There's no visible damage or strain, I suspect these were just taken off of Zeros getting upgraded tanks.

I'm not sure of the shipping price on the tanks, since they're bulky.  I'm well-versed on how to ship things, that was my last paid gig ^-^  They're used, so $65 plus shipping would be appropriate.  If anyone is interested, I'll look at getting a big enough box and pricing out shipping.  I only have two of the spare pouches that velcro inside, I'd toss one in for an extra $5.

Right now they're filling my shed which has temperature control to keep out the moisture from the redwoods, and as you can see in the photo we've started our rain-season.  I use the shed pretty frequently - my bicycles are in there - so I'd like the space back.  I can issue a PayPal request or receive via Zelle.

PS, I also have two of the belts.  Standard USPS shipping on the belts looks like $9.30 via USPS Priority.  If I can find a better box I might be able to lower the shipping cost a little.  Since they're technically new, I'd want about $60 apiece (3/4 AF1's price), plus shipping.
PPS: Halved belt shipping charges via ESokoloff's suggestion.

PPPS: Belts claimed.
PPPPS: I have yellow fenders now for my paint project ^-^
PPPPPS: Yellow claimed, red claimed, last intact black claimed.

Crissa-

I'd take one of those!  Either one of the black tanks on the ends, would be perfect.  If the shipping quote is on the high side, I could probably come down and grab it...I'm in SF.

Thanks!

Re the belts.....

Twist/loop so they from a 3 layered coil.
Takes up much less space & shouldn't cause any harm.

Oh!  Yes, they do that without much intervention.  Thanks!  With some inflated shipping bubbles it should be pretty safe that way for a short period.

That only reduces to the $14.35 flat rate box, tho.  Hmm.  But now it's small enough I can weigh it myself.

PS:  Aha!  Priority is down to $9.30 if I twist them and put into a 'medium' cube box.

Sent you a PM.
I've read on the Gates web site that the one rule for storing belts, or shipping, is not to fold/collapse it into a smaller loop than the smallest gear it will be used for.  So just push down the top to make a long heart shape and it should be fine.  That's how it comes in a bag from Zero.

The cheapest shipper for bulky items is likely UPS ground for the tanks.

This would be good content for a How To video ;-)

Thanks!  Yeah, that's what I was told, too.  But it seems these belts are made of sterner stuff looking at them.  So while they're waiting I have them hanging free.

Well I do have a GoPro but wouldn’t know how to proceed after filming.

What I did do was to figure out how to do the task in an easy step by step process

Grasp the belt with both hands.
Using either hand, twist the belt one full revaluation.
After twisting one turn, stretch the belt out to the point of tension & then release & bring the belt back to center & the 3 loops should appear.

Ok Crissa got the belt.  Shipped A1 thanks.
I had a spare that I ordered about a year ago and when I looked at the part #s they were different.  Mine had the new Zero logo and yours was the older one.  So the teeth were the same but holding them up I couldn't tell if they were the same size.
So I marked them with tape and started counting.
For the record the old "S" style belts have 220 teeth  :)
Thanks.
Man that shipped fast cross country.

Priority mail! ^-^  To-from the Bay Area is usually pretty quick.

That's interesting!  Because the part number in AF1's catalog as the 'new' batch matches the one I have.  I guess there's yet a newer batch out there.

Good Morning Crissa

I wish that I had time to deal with the side boxes.

Awesome!  Well, I'll find them homes, I'm sure.  Our plan is to use them to paint.  So worse case they'll get to be pretty swap-out shells ^-^
