SR/F auto dimming feature not functional?
« on: July 08, 2019, 08:56:54 PM »

I finally went on ride after dark and the console was so bright that it was distracting.
I checked the settings and it was set to Auto and high contrast.
Somehow I don't think the auto dimming feature is working.

Is it just mine or are they others having this issue too?

Mine dims automatically.  Often I will be riding along through the metroparks and go under a bridge.  The display goes into night mode.  I come out the other side and the display returns to day mode.
I am not sure which setting control this feature, but if you point me to them, we can compare how mine is set up to yours.

Mine works fine. Its function is actually better than other bikes I have ridden with this function, notable Triumphs. You might try turning the Auto function off for a bit to see if it will reset.

It turns out dimming is working fine on my bike. Because I did not see it adjusting I thought it was broken, since I did not see it getting darker.
Using a flashlight in the garage to simulate daylight (the sensor is next to the right turn arrow) I then could see it quickly changing brightness depending on the light level in the garage.

So, for people like me that find it still too bright at night, Zero added a feature to reverse the display. From the user's manual:

"Visibility Options - High Contrast
For improved visibility, the High Contrast option of the dash
display inverts the black and white colors and the colored
gauges switch to black."

By turning the high contrast off, I now get the display perfectly lit (for my liking) for night riding. With it on, it's really quite bright and could be distracting.

Thanks vinceherman and Bill822 for your feedback and suggestions!
