Xmas tree lights on dash of EVA
« on: August 18, 2018, 11:07:17 PM »

Is anyone else out there wanting to turn off the tattletale lights on the dash when the throttle is opened wide?  I find these really annoying at night.

I didn't tried at night for the moment, but yes as it is pretty bright I think that it would be a good idea to add this feature (to turn On/Off those lights) in a further firmware update.

I think you can send a message on energica's website to ask for this update :)

On Energicas, there is leds on both sides of the dashboard indicating if you're pushing your bike to the limit or not.
While turning the accelerator, it flashes green, orange, and eventually Red at the top end of the dashboard ;)

that's an entertaining gadget but it's maybe a little too bright in the night :p

ahh.. similar to the battery draw and regen indicators in electric cars... gotcha. that makes more sense.
To be fair, my initial question was made first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. lol.

I would be happy to pass your concerns along to the factory. I personally think it would be best to have the output of the led units reduced when the dash is in "night" mode.

As a interim solution some window tint film cut in small strips to place over the lights should reduce their output.

The pinball machine lights annoyed me as well on my first test drive at night. Making them dimmable/switchable would be a good idea. They are basically redundant, because they represent the power line on the display (except regeneration). Many people prefer the night mode, so I don't know if linking to day-night is the best option. Energica do take feedback serious in my experience.

I agree with that SBK74, I personnaly stay in Dark mode also, as I can't see anything in day with the Light mode  :P

Here is what I think would suit the most regarding light settings:
Basically switching from day to night should keep the dark mode but dim respectively (Screen + Leds) from day% to night%
with those settings :
Day% as a user setting for max luminosity for screen and leds
Night% as a user setting for min luminosity for screen and leds
Dark/Light/Auto as a user setting for Auto switch between Dark or Light mode for screen
On / Off as a user setting for Auto switch from Day/Night %

I got a message from Energica: They indicate that making the power LEDs  dimmable by means of a firmware upgrade would be possible and that they are working on it.
