Definitely an interesting one.

Really curious if they have a real reason for adding the weight of a gearbox to an electric drivetrain other than "motorcycle riders are used to shifting"

At any rate, always glad to see more established manufacturers jumping into the ev business, and the fact that kymco is pretty price-conscious can't hurt.

The reason to me seems that these electric motors produce max torque from no or very low rpm but at some point the max hp is reached at which time any more rpm come with less torque but constant hp.

My Ktm freeride is comparable to my 125 two stroke but has no answer for fifth or sixth gear on the 125.
