2015 SR still not fully charging ...
« on: September 23, 2018, 01:35:01 AM »

I know it was discussed in other threads but I searched the forum and found no answer to this and it is a kind of different with these symptoms:

My 2015 SR, with Battery pack 2017 and power tank 2018 only charges to about 94-95% with stock charger. If I plug it out and in again maybe I get 96% or 97% on the dash.

If I add an external charger DeltaQ on the aux it charges to 100% (on my 2013-XU it is vice versa: DeltaQ stop charging before the on-board charger at 98%).

All firmware was updated by my dealer (see below) in June, so the firmware issue should be solved.
I also have this behavior on different charging locations, at home, at work and others, so it is not the power supply.

Anyone experienced this and could it be the on-board stock charger not fit for newer batteries ?

Just as my SR 2015. If you look at the battery voltage  when charging, you’ll see that the onboard only charges to perhaps 113 or 114v where as the delta quiq charges to 115 or 116v

Upcomming charger faliure!!! (Probably)

Thanks for the fast answer, I will check this next time charging and report.

Did your charger fail after that behavior and if yes how long did it take until it doesnt work anymore ?

Just to know:
do you know how many chargecycles in total was done with charger? (previous battery + current battery)
I have a DS2013, with 12,5kW battery (was replaced previous owner), and says 610 charge cycles on Zero app (still doing 115/116V tho).

As I have mentioned a number of times previously, the 2014 S that I used to own and that my daughter still rides, started to stop charging to 100% over a year ago. At first it stopped charging at 98% and then slowly would stop charging to lower percentages and voltages until it finally leveled off at 92%. But if you leave the charger plugged in continuously, it will turn on every 24 hours and start charging again to boost the charge percentage display another one or two percent. After leaving the charger plugged in for about it week, the display will read 100%. But in most cases, my daughter's bike gets ridden before then and she doesn't like to keep the bike plugged in all of the time, so she usually pulls the plug when it turns off at 92% and 113 volts as that gives her all of the range that she needs for her local rides.  Personally, I don't think this is a charger problem, but a battery cell issue.  ??? If it was a failing charger, I would have thought that the on-board charger would have given up the ghost long ago.

Confirmed, just measured max Voltage during a charging cycle and it stopped at 95% and 114V.

To get sure I used a Voltage meter with Max/Min function over charging period.

I cannot believe the charger will break within 3 years, I think more it needs recalibration.
I will ask my zero dealer if he can do this ?

Better would be an how-to for DIY, if it is not to complicated, since I don't want sent in the whole bike and also don't want to be without charger for some weeks.

a) Try to recalibrate the charger, maybe a trimmer potentiometer or like this ?

b) Adjust settings via CAN or so if possible ?

PS:
Bike History for me: I bought this used  bike on 6.May from my dealer with new batteries installed and where the issue first appeared from the very first moment, he said it will take time some charging cycles until I get the full capacity... so I waited, but it didn't and 95% was good enough for my needs.

Anyway I am on the waiting list for a Diginow wich replaces the onboard charger, but I want to get sure it is not the other parts of the bike.
