Zero FXS FXE Rear Suspension Spring (shock, coilover, showa)

RE: Zero part number: 22-08055 (40mm Shock)

**Updated - added after-update images**

I needed to spec the correct spring (increased rate) for a 250 lbs rider and found little information about this available online. I first contacted my Zero dealer and they didn't know how to help me so I contacted Zero and the information they finally provided was not useful to the aftermarket spring supplier (Race Tech in this case). I must say that Race Tech was extremely patient with me while I attempted to figure this out. After ordering a lift, some tie-down straps, a spring compressor tool and a heavy vise, I was able to remove the rear shock from the motorcycle and safely remove the spring so I could take measurements with a caliper.

I'm adding here the Race Tech worksheet for specing a spring for the rear suspension (in my case a 2022 Zero FXE):

In my case, these were the parts spec'd by Race Tech:
Item Code   Description
SRSP 5818107   RT SK SPR 58.2x178 10.7kg
SPSC B5855N   Shock Collar Adapter 58-55
SPSC B5552N   Shock Collar Adapter 55-52
SPSC P575516   Shock Collar Spacer 55-52

Also, I used Birchwood Casey cold bluing to tidy up the preload adjustment collar after my ham-handed attempts to adjust the preload. These parts are steel and I think it's a good idea to keep them from rusting.

Congrats on redoing your suspension. Both of my Zeros' shocks (S and SR)  are way over-sprung. This is a topic that is either buried in way-past posts or new to this forum. I can't get the sag for my 140 pound wife's S or my (200 pound me) SR correct even with the preload completely dialed back. I suppose I should take them to the local motorcycle suspension shop to get them dialed in. Right now they are both buckboards on rough roads.

Great work! I'm also a bit hefty for my FX and was looking to explore options for upgrading the front and rear springs. Thanks for doing all the leg work! I'll probably just get those Race Tech parts for my FX and call it a day.
I wasn't sure where to begin to find upgraded springs for the bike, I recall someone mentioned "Factory Direct" but I never followed through with any of it. Instead I focused more on the abysmal headlights.

i want to change it for a harder but i need the value off the original one
