Kalashnikov SM-1
« on: August 25, 2018, 07:36:17 PM »

And now we have the Russian arms manufacturer jumping into the electric motorcycle business. Buy one of these and get a free AK-48 electric stun gun as a bonus:   ::)  https://electricmotorcycles.news/newsflash-kalashnikov-electric-offroad-motorcycle-sm-1/

And now we have the Kalashnikov CV-1 electric car. The Russians seem to have a soft spot in their hearts for the good old USSR. I hear that every CV-1 comes with a signed portrait of Putin during his KGB days. However, my guess is that the charging infrastructure in Siberia will have to be upgraded a bit for this car to travel very far. A Tesla competitor? You don't say?  ::)

Of all the bikes I see on here I think this one is the closest to what I would get.  There is no shortage of places to tie things on.  The seat seems low and might be somewhat comfortable, most likely better than the Alta or Ktm freeride.  The kick stand might be more useful in real world situations that the two mentioned above.

It does look kind of unfinished the chain guide and guard are missing and I can not quite figure out if the front chain is fully in place.  It has the swingarm pivot located front sprocket without the motor location at that location.  Possibly could modify primary drive for road then modify for off road.  Probably has swappable batteries.

Getting service and parts might be an issue though.  ;)

I want this too.  Is there any indication Kalashnikov is seriously investing in battery development or other prerequisites?  Or is this yet another concept vehicle?

It looks like a trial balloon to me. Just checking the arms dealer market.  ;) I can't see it being imported into the U.S. any time soon in any case, what with the current U.S. and Russia political relationship at a new low.

Are you kidding? It appears this president wants to give Russia sweetheart deals while calling Europe and Japan our rivals.

I think the deal for the Kalashnikov SM-1 would be a lot sweeter if the new bike was named the "Putin" SM-1.  ::)

I poked around to find anything that I could, and assembled all of it here:
