It appears that BMW knows their market.  While they are sticking to Europe for now, sales of their C-Evolution scooter seem to be pretty robust for a brand new technology and an untested market.  They are now making inroads into the police agency fleet sales business:

I am surprised that Zero doesn't seem to be attracting "authority" sales in Europe.  To my mind their police version of the S should make for a pretty good enforcement vehicle.  It probably has to do with the sales connections and past reputation that BMW has with Euro police forces.

I'l sure they are packaging their sales. Buy 100 RT-P and get a severe discount for the C-Evolution. At €15000 per scoot, it's way above the means of any police department. So quite sure they are well discounted...

I think I read somewhere that the Zero "authority" models are going for something in the low-$20K USD range.  My guess is that Zero doesn't give anyone any breaks on price for current models, which no doubt restricts their sales volume somewhat.  But they don't have much, if any, competition in the U.S., so I guess that they think that they don't need to subsidize their bikes to get a strong public agency market penetration right now. Plus, police departments are notoriously conservative with their choice of motorcycles - witness the number of city police agencies in the U.S. that just love their H-D models and wouldn't consider anything else.

Well, Zero did manage to sell 100+ units to the cops in Colombia, which if you want to be nasty raises a lot of other "questions"...

But all joking aside, so far Zero have been outselling BMW's police efforts, but that will change. You can see their sales department kicking in.

I think most Zeros have been to fleets.  There was a article a few months ago in which an executive mentioned that they realized they weren't going to grow fast enough on individual sales alone so they focus on fleets.

That makes sense.  I wonder what organizations and companies they have been selling to?  It sure is tough to get any sales information from Zero.
