I've heard that there's an actual Lightning owner in the Bay Area, and I even heard that they had a name.

I've still never seen one in the hands of a customer.

I think his name is "Jay Leno."  I could be mistaken.

I heard the same thing, although Jay isn't located in the SFBA. A few years ago I was told at an EV meeting that Lightning had sold at least one LS-218 model and also one of their much less powerful commuter models - photo attached. Since then I haven't heard much more, other than a comment or two about them selling a couple more 218 models to unnamed customers.  Also, I once saw a picture of their short assembly line, which had three bikes under construction - if I recall correctly.  ???

No, he'd be a SoCal / LA area owner. That's a considerable distance away. The one I heard of had a specifically different name and apparently lives in Berkeley, where only millionaires can afford to own garages to keep such vehicles in.

And live in fear that anyone might find out that they don't walk, bicycle, or ride the bus to get around town - or have a garage, for that matter.  No wonder they want to be anonymous.  ::)  I bet the only time they ride the bike around town is on a moon-less night.  ;)

I rode one at their shop in San Jose a few weeks ago. A Grommish one. I wrote some stuff about it here.

It was pretty cool.

Lightning, the bike that wouldn't die.   ::) Who knew that they had a showroom in San Jose? (Not me.) So what do they sell for now and when will we hear from an actual owner?  Inquiring minds want to know.   ;)

Hey!  I rode that one too ;D Liked it so much that I ordered one.  Richard says they'll come out around January 2019.  I'm surprised he let you take photos in there.  That NDA was pretty scary.

Went 191.7 in Colorado mile with 78% charge [due to generator limitations] and gearing for Bonneville long course.  It was the only gearing we had as they have to be custom made.  The rear gear is a 67.  I cannot seem to post pics.
