Wider brake peg
« on: December 12, 2018, 08:09:26 AM »

Hi everyone,

I don't know about you but I find the brake peg on my 2018 SR to be a little too far inboard.  I looked at adapting a H-D peg but came up with this $2 solution instead.

Tools:
- 5mm Allen wrench
- anti-seize or multipurpose grease

Materials:
- M6-1.0x30mm bolt
- 1/4"ID x 5/8"OD x 3/8" nylon spacer

Steps:

1. remove existing peg with Allen wrench, remove washer from old bolt
2. apply dot of grease and washer to new bolt
3. re-assemble with new bolt and spacer

See photos.  My concerns are:

- is nylon a good material for this? (compressive strength, cold resistance)
- will the brake pedal scrape before the foot pegs?  (doesn't look like it will)

That should be a good fix.  Keep an eye on it to make sure it stays tight.
