I spent some time to find a top case solution that matches with my needs. Perhaps other people could be interested by my way of mounting a
Givi Monolock top case (mine is a
E450 SIMPLY II) using a
Givi M6M adapter made to carry one U lock, but which also is able to carry two U locks if necessary.
Take care that if you carry 2 U locks as I do, the second one rubs on the mudguard and damages it a little bit. You should put something between them. I use rubber that I got from an old tire tube, and attach it to the mudguard using strong black adhesive tape. It is not visible since it is masked by the top case.
I was not able to mount the M6M directly on the
Zero FX Top Box Rack Kit.
There are 6 possible bolts to fasten the M6M rack on its supporting plate.
I have first made a 10mm plywood plate, and bolted the M6M rack using the 4 backward bolts. That was a bad solution, and the plywood broke (see pictures). But then I used the 6 bolts and it is OK. Indeed, I am still using the broken plywood plate with the 6 bolts (since March 2017) without any problem.
I am very happy with this system, and I have ordered an aluminium plate, but I did not find the time to mount it at the moment. It is 5 mm thick, it weights 935 grams, which is much more than the plywood one. Probably 4mm thichness would be enough.
I attach some pictures, but you can find
more pictures on this link.
