Convert a DSR to SR?
« on: March 16, 2019, 12:14:15 PM »

Hi,

I have a DSR and wondering since the chassis and battery is the same as SR, if I change the plastics, suspension wheels and plastics will it convert to be like an SR? Or the chassis and batter tech different between them?

Amish.

You don't *need* to change the plastics. The DSR tank plastics are more narrow than the S tank plastics. You would need the S forks and the smaller front wheel and potentially front fender if you care about such things. It's very doable.

Thanks. How about the Seat? Is it possible to install a seat.

This might be the first bike that I can convert into multiple style and fit. This would be an awesome advantage. Purchase just one bike and change the accessories to convert it to a different bike.

Will try this project this summer and share my experience.

Seat is 2 bolts; it's excruciatingly simple to swap out.

Amish, I don't know why you'd bother. Sounds like a lot of effort to change wheels, suspension and so on.  Just enjoy the bike as it is and buy an SR or SR/F next time if you're convinced you prefer that style.  Honestly, I can't imagine how it could possibly worth trying to convert DSR to an SR.

You can't imagine? What if he's getting a really good deal on someone's used DSR but he prefers the SR and the price was SO GOOD it's still cheaper to get that bike and the conversion parts than it was to find any other used SR on the market.

Or he's changed his preference and wants more grip on the street. I can imagine many reasons!

In real life the DSR probably has more grip on the street. Streets are bumpy and more travel is good. Sticky tires won't help if they aren't touching pavement.

Don't convert your bike, it's already basically a SR and if you want more range, add a fairing.
