back to the original question. Does anyone know the correct power rating for the Energica Ego?  If the Zero SR is only 28hp, how is it possible that the Energica Ego is 145hp?

I think this is caused by the different cooling systems. The Zero is passive cooled and runs into thermal limits after a few minutes, so the peak power is higher than sustained power which is measured over 30 minutes. The Energica dealer from Switzerland told me that the Ego has a liquid cooled system for motor, controller and battery and can hold its peak performance over the entire 30 minutes test cycle. But it's heavier than the Zero though.

That's sort of the explanation I received from the dealer.  I normally buy new every October but they've been sold out of the SR for a while. I was offered an amazing deal on an Ego, a price just a little more than I paid a few years ago for an SR. The weight doesn't bother me, don't need the extra range and appreciate the ability to charge in 20 minutes eventually, it'll encourage me to make the Ego a permanent addition.

If you have $40K to spend on something - why not get the Lightning.

Are Lightnings even available for sale?  If so, I have never heard about it.  I have seen a couple of prototypes and advertised pricing on a handout card, but I have never heard of anyone actually being able to buy one.  Have you?   ???

This is on their website: http://lightningmotorcycle.com/reserve-now/ and I *assume* they've sold some.  I actually visited them (I think it was early 2014) and saw several bikes being assembled.  They had a small showroom but I can't say I've actually seen folks online talking about them.  ??
