Have a you Ever Forgotten To Plug In?
« on: July 28, 2017, 03:49:59 AM »

Hello,
My name is Eric & I'm a DUMB A$$

I type this as I'm at work having just now plugged in for the 10% additional  battery level I'll need to get home.

Oh well, I'll just try and catch a few Zzzzz's

It's happened to me I think three times. Always because something distracted me, like because I had items to carry inside. I've bought a 25-foot 14AWG cable from Monoprice, and now I drape it across the doorknob when I unplug the bike. I can't go inside without encountering the power cable.

This AM the alarm went off & 3:30 & I arrived at work by 5:23

This is actually the second time I forgot but the 1st time I realized my mistake several hours after arrival.
After that time I got in the habit of leaving my cell phone on the handlebar cradle plugged in until I plugged in the bike.

That didn't happen this AM & here I sit @ 26%.
Think I'll let it charge to 30% before I head out.

I did get a good power nap in tho.

Yes! I've done this several times.

One day-to-day use of a fast charger is just to fix this when it happens. I also have a regular alarm (on iOS) to just remember charging just after lunch while at work, in case I need the bump and forgot.

Very very rarely, maybe a couple of times, however my battery pack is double what I normally need, so its no biggie if I do forget.

My FX off road riding and charging routine is not typical but I've forgotten to charge many times. Usually it happens when we decide to extend a trip another day and maybe go to a different trailhead. We drive to a new cheap motel and go to bed tired after a hard day of off road riding. So then I wake up at 2am and realize my packs are not fully charged and we plan to hit more trails first thing after breakfast. Crap! I've had to get out of bed, put on clothes, make several trips between van and room carrying batteries and chargers, plug things in and go back to sleep. I've been super happy to find a 20amp outlet in the room so I can run two QuiQs and get a little more sleep!

I forgot once and I hope never again. I was all dressed up and ready to go to discover only  20% charge. Had to get changed and take the train to work which cost me £20 and is something I really dislike doing these days.

.............

My new routine is to leave the ignition keyed on until I've plugged in (when needed).

Guess I'm luckily it was on the home bound leg.
No pressures/time constraints & like I said, I got a nice power nap in waiting.

I once tried to ride off with the charger cord connected to my 2012S.  Fortunately someone yelled at me before I traveled more than a few feet.   :o

GREAT!!!

Now I'll have to come up with a procedure for removal/storage of the cord :o

You could use one of those disc brake lock reminder thingies.

I put one of these on my cord and clip it on the right handgrip while charging.
