I've started a stub of a Google Maps collaborative map.

I think google maps requires a google login, if you want to add stations you know of, DM me your gmail address, and I'll add you as a collaborator if you've been a participant here.  (If you don't gmail as your primary, that's fine, you can sign up with a gmail address just for this if you like.)

Once I've got my private stash of stations transferred in, I'll open it up to unauthenticated read-only access as well.

So far I just have the local 10-12 station locations entered, both from my experience and also some of the ones Shadow gave me.

My idea is not just to locate and post the locations of these mass-charging stations, but also to add (in the notes, I guess) what amenities are nearby (restrooms, eateries, coffee, movies, hiking, ...) and what days and times of day they are free vs occupied.

They have a map, and you can enter private residences as well.

I start with plugshare, and chargepoint, but there's no way to filter for multiple J-plugs at one location.

Have you noticed that a lot of the entries on chargepoing are onesie not-very-serious charging sites?  The one overpriced station at a typical walgreens, for example.

So yeah, find places on plugshare *that have more than one J-plug within reach of each other* and add them to our list. 

Basically the new list removes a lot of the clutter for those wanting to do group rides and road trips, a common place to collect the wisdom of this particular crowd.

And we're only looking for the one or two or maybe three best ones per town, not an exhaustive list. We're looking for the ones that are open late at night, open weekends, have restaurants nearby and don't cost much, and are reliable. 

And no car dealerships, please, unless they really are in it for more than their own compliance vehicles.

Don't forget ones with 24 hour bathrooms too. 

in 2009-2012 no private businesses wanted to put in charging stations when there were no EV's on the road, so goverrnments put them in at City halls in hundreds of small towns across America.  And many times there would be a public restroom at the park next door, but the doors would be locked at night.  Since I usually travelled 24 hours a day and just took 30 min naps at charge stations for days on end, and drinking a lot of coffee around the clock, I have pee'd on the side of probably about 200 city hall buildings around the country.  A few of them were regular stops for me and the stone wall was a lot cleaner looking in the area I picked after a few dozen visits.

Tesla has solved this by giving the owners codes on their dash after plugging in at chargers that opens a VIP lounge with free coffee, vending machines, a set of chairs and of course a bathroom.

Since I'm sure I'm not the only one now in the last 5 years to do this, I'm guessing it will only take 10 more years before government buildings smell so bad of urine they finally figure out just to leave their 2 million dollar outdoor bathroom unlocked or with a code you get from the charging station nearby.

I added a layer for accessible Tesla stations too.

(I made myself 5 enable circuits and tested three of them yesterday. One at a Holiday Inn and one at a distillery with 24/7 free Tesla charger out front.)

Add your stations, so it's not so San Francisco Bay Area -centric and it becomes a useful tool for all of us.

This is not a replacement for plugshare, in fact I make sure I have a pointer to the plugshare entry in each entry. It's really more of a selected subset of those stations from a motorcycling rapid charging perspective.
