I was looking for a towing solution for my UTV and I came across this:

which got me thinking...

Keep your rear wheel on the ground, set regen to max, disable your abs and you should be able to recharge your bike while transporting it, no?

in theory... yes.
would I ever do such a mad max approach? no.
I have however read about guys in EVs stuck in the middle of nowhere, having their friend tow them, and getting a regen-charge if they dragged the brakes slightly....

also, having seen these hitches argued about online before, everyone in the USA will say its a horrible idea, while tons of guys in europe say they're common... they seem a little sketchy to me, but I normally dont tow my bikes anyway unless they're broken...

Maybe not because there is no tractive force on the tire other than rotating resistance.  It's something, but very small compared to actually riding your motorcycle. 

I also hope that you ride your motorcycle a lot more than your motorcycle riding on your truck.

That would be true if the rear wheel were free-wheeling, but I have to assume if he's talking about recharging his bike then he has the motor turned on, and set to 100% regen, which means there will be a LOT of resistance on that tire.  Since it is secured to a non-leaning four wheeler, all of that resistance will be on the center of the tread meaning this is also a good way to square off that tire as well...

Most if not all EVs that I am aware of state that you should not tow with driven wheels on the ground.
THAT being said, I recall someone doing that when The Leaf and Volt were first hitting the road someone
doing it with a Leaf. Supposedly worked very well. Vehicle would have to be left in ON position. Would
put in eco / custom mode with regen set very low, at least until you found out how long it took to charge
or how long your drive was. Thought about this for taking Zero along on long distance trip. Stop for gas
unhook Zero. Ride until depleted, hook back up, unhook next gas stop.
Downside of the idea is that these things are tenuous enough with ordinary drag let alone added pressure
from regen. Maybe a 2KW inverter and extra deep cycle battery hooked into vehicle.

There's a forum thread here where someone did this because their Zero had to get towed. It does work, just not regularly advisable.
