The July issue of the British magazine Bike (available at Barnes and Noble for about $10) contains a long interview with Ducati's President, Claudio Domenicali.  In the article Mr. Domenicali mentions (on page 49) that Ducati is working with Audi to develop an electric motorcycle.  But he says not to expect to see it on the market for at least another five years.  He states that battery and charging technology is just not up to their standards at this time. That could be the position of other established IC motorcycle manufacturers who have not entered the EV market yet.  They are just not ready to take the "plunge".

and batteries to become more power dense.  All they need is someone else to make this happen for them - especially the demand part of the equation.
