Battery capacity
« on: June 07, 2016, 12:19:46 AM »

I tried to do some maths with the numbers on the display after a trip with my 2015 SR today.

Distance 66,4 km x average consumption 50,7 Wh/km = 3366 Wh
60% of battery capacity remaining should indicate that my battery had a total capacity of 8416 Wh.
It really is a 12,5 kWh battery - missing (or hiding) 4 kWh?

Firstly, I never really trust those average fuel consumption figures, whether with electric or fossil fuels. I'd take it as an indication rather than an accurate measure.

Also, don't forget that the nominal capacity is much less than what the sticker says. My DS has a nominal capacity of 10 kWh but the sticker says 11.4 kWh.

Part of the problem is that you never get an accurate distance measurement because tyre circumference isn't consistent.

I'm sure there are others with better explanations, but those are just a couple of thoughts of mine.  It was an interesting exercise though. :-)
