This project is intended to demonstrate this potential by conversion of full performance race ready Honda CRF250R's to race ready full performance electric(CRF2eR) with equal or better performance.

Imagine how this quiet machine could change the riding opportunities.  Neighbors will no longer even know you are riding.   The tracks around the country that have closed because of noise would be able to continue with full electric motocrossers.  When trail riding, you literally see more activity from "sneaking up" on wildlife as well as minimizing your impact.

Its got 2 perm 132 motors inside, 2 alltrax motors and about 2kwh of A123 batteries and a custom build BMS. It has a chain between the 2 motors and a jackshaft going to the rear sprocket.

This is a good friend of mine, Bob Simpson, its a great bike... and he's almost done with a battery upgrade.

looks like a high performance conversion, do you know how much riding time he gets per charge? and how it compares to the crf250r?

I've been watching this guys work for some time, he never released the bike drawings or anything was kind of bummed about that. I seemed like he was going to release as a kit. Now he teamed up with another guy and started a shop. I love his rav4 work to. Work clean well thought out builds. If you do an interview Id like to see him list off his picks for EV components. BMS, Motors, Instrumentation, Must have tools.

A weight comparison, power comparison between the two bikes would be interesting. As well as the riding time and fun factor questions mentioned above. Also will there be use for electronic trickery such as large slip traction control / launch control for off road riding?
And i agree with picasso, a list of prefered components, with a breif reason why would be interesting.

he designed his own BMS for the A123 batteries.... its quite involved. It monitors temperature, shunt balances each battery in groups of 5.... very slick system.

I talked to him a little last week, I'll set something up.

I would love to know what kind of riding the power delivery is best suited for. Track, trails, sand, hard pack, hill climbs, etc. Did he design it specifically for any of these conditions?

Please give him props on a really cool bike.

He has some land out in Banks, Oregon and its hilly, flat, rough, smooth and everything in between and he said it handles it all very well. I'll ask him some of these Questions... maybe do a little interview/video.
