neat, but it wont help the zero charge any faster.  Until Zero ups the internal charger size to the battery max charge rate, the limiting factor will be the onboard charger, not the power source.

What you have there is a glorified electrical outlet. Not a charger.

True with the stock on board charger but the charge tank, elcons or digi charger they can use them and your rollen.  I was shocked to see they were as cheap as they are.  That four plugger would be real nice at a mall or something, no waiting.

I dunno, man. When this:

gets you to (or very near) a 1C charge rate with the DigiNow charger, why spend thousands of dollars? I think I'd try to convince my boss to install four 14-50s instead.

Granted, it's not a solution for everybody. But it will work for me! (Assuming I ever get my DigiNow charger, that is.)

If the Diginow charger works as promised, a NEMA 14-50 plug will just about max your capabilities.  Plus they usually are next to a 110V outlet, so it will be close to 1C. 

We would need a next generation battery and charger to take advantage of the ~6kW extra charging power that a 220V 80A power supply can give.

I posted this mostly for humor but I'll accept a teaching moment (for myself).  The 14-50 is the RV style 50 amp plug like Ben used for his tour videos if I remember correctly. But you still needed the J1772 plug adapter and your own long cord that powered the two elcons and gave 6kW charging.  Will the digi have a different female plug in?  I figured it would still be the j1772. So what would need to be done to install one of those outlets and is 50amps the max the Zero batteries can take?
In defense of the awesome ZILLA we can't be greedy and want charges that only we can use if a business was fitting the bill you would want to charge cars as well so people could buy lots of things and spend lots of money.  Couldn't a charger simply step down the amps from 80 to 50 so it could work with our bikes?

the "charger" that connects to the wall, is nothing more than a very fancy wall outlet. it does not charge the battery, it just powers whatever charger you have in your car or bike. That onboard charger charges the battery.

The onboard charger is what limits how much power it pulls from the wall. 


The Digi doesnt care if its plugged into a "charger", a wall socket, a dryer outlet, or a DC chadmo output... it only cares that the power is within its input range, and that the power source is large enough for the draw it wants to ask of it.

Well, and most importantly, it's also a way of charging you for the power. They charge quadruple (or more) the price of the electricity, give a small amount to the owner of the property, and keep the rest for providing the "service".

I suggested to my local hangout that they keep a padlock on the door of the 14-50 outlet and charge, say, $3.00 an hour to borrow the key. That would cover the amount of electricity that can be delivered in an hour, with a little bit extra for them, since they are the actual providers of the service.
