My 2012 SR : 0-60mph 4.3s
« on: October 25, 2015, 09:27:27 PM »

Yesterday i took time to make some run and test the performances of my highly modified Zero 2012 and got interesting performances !!!

I filmed everything with my smartphone in HD and then edited the video with Power Director and added a Stopwatch and synchronized it to have it match with the start frame of all test. The Cycle Analyst LCD display say everything!.. even with the 1/4 mile i had the 1m accuracy!.. no    $/")(?%&%  innacurate GPS.. just the direct sensor from the wheel at 4 pulse per rotation.

0-60ft 1.50s
0-60mph: 4.3s
0-100kmh: 4.8s
1/8mile: 7.8
1/4 mile 14s

Burst current: 640A
Burst power: 40.4kW to the motor at 75km/h (2870rpm)  (compared to 26kW with the stock Zero 2012 S and 29kW with the 75-7 mod only)

That's match  the 2013+ S performances  for the 0-100 !! the only diff is that the powerband is shorter due to the lower battery voltage and max top speed to 130km/h

What is nice is that i'm still using the original 66V battery and dont have the 102V fro the 2013+ !!

Enjoy!:   8)

That 0-60ft time doesn't seem right. Assuming constant acceleration from constant torque you can use simple motion equations.  X = 1/2 (V*t). V = 2 X/t. Or V= 2*(120ft/1.15sec) = 71mph.

The electric dragster that does 7/8 sec passes does a 1.15sec 60ft time.  That dragster has over 8000ftlbs at the rear axle and can lift the front end

It also seems weird that you get to 60mph in 4.3sec, but it takes 4.8sec to get to 62mph (100kmh). Your 0-60 makes sense but it seems your method of testing isn't very precise with the numbers your showing

I had doubt about the 0-60ft and i want to test it on the track. I  used the distance calculation  at the 1m accuracy and time at 30fps. In fact it is not 1.15sec but 1.5 sec. The 1.15 represent 30frame plus 15 frame - 45 frame so 1.5 sec.. and at that time i have 39km/h speed according to the video.

The P90D does 1.6s for the 0-60ft.

The motor torque curve of teh Sevcon is limiting very charp close to 100kmh and if you watch carefully the video you will see the speed increase slowing down from about 80kmh, just after the peak power reached at 75kmh. ;)

Thanks Doc!  That makes a bit more sense. I should try this with my 03 Yamaha Zero SR6! Would be a good comparison.

Faster than a P90D is lot of fun!

Hey Doc,
I assume you had to switch to a stronger belt, which kind did you switch too?

No i have the same. The belt from the Zero SR withc use the size 6 controller and the belt from the Zero S are the same ;)

That's still incredible to get 106 lb-ft  = about 900 pounds tensil strengh on that belt every time i go WOT !! 8)
