Hey guys, what should I pay for 2013 fx 5.7
« on: November 12, 2016, 11:22:40 PM »

Hey everyone. I am looking at buying a 2013 fx 5.7. Around 1500 miles and appears to be all sorted. No damage or accidents of any kind it seems.

What is the going rate for this bike used?

Is there a big difference between 2013 fx 5.7 and 2016 fx model? Torque numbers seem to be similar. Worth the extra few grand?

I like the dash on the 2016 bikes, can an updated dash be fitted to a 2013?

Thanks so much for your insight.

I honestly have no idea about a '13 FX, but a repaired  '15  5.7 FX recently sold on eBay for $6K. Not that it matters, but I believe the majority of  '13 5.7 FX's sold new for > $12K so I can understand if a seller wanted at least halfway-decent money for a low-mileage one, but wanting and getting are often two different things.

IMO, yes.  I've compared the '13 and '14 FX side by side and ridden '13 / '14 / '15 FX's and the FXS, and while I thought the '13 was the fastest-accelerating by a slight margin, I feel you're better off getting at least a '14 for features and parts/service availability.  The '13 also looked & felt noticeably smaller to me than the later ones, which I didn't care for but others might like.

No idea about the dash unit either, but I doubt it would be an easy swap.

Well a few things.
First the value, as always, is what someone is willing to pay for it.  I have seen 13 FX's listed for as low as $6000.  There is one on Ebay right now for $8000. If your heart is set on the one your looking at maybe offer $5000 and pay shipping.
Keep in mind 13 was a first year and has one kind of bad issue, the battery connector is on the other side as later batteries.  So it may be hard to update them with 2017 3.3's I don't know if zero would retro fit new ones or not.  Also no warranty.
Also brakes and suspension are a good bit worse than 15 and newer.
For what it is worth check Cycle Trader and you'll find 15s and 16s going for around 8-9 grand.
One last thing and it's just my opinion as a non tech but I want to see over 3-4 thousand miles on a 13 bike as that shows it has been used and charged to be able to ride that much with few issues.
Someone may have got it and they weren't as much of a motorcycle person as they thought and just parked it but for me it would put up a red flag that I would want a warranty behind me to cover my butt.   These bikes are super fun and easy to ride so not much reason not to ride it.
Good Luck.

I have a 2013 FX 5.7 and LOVE it. The main downside is that the batteries are not forward compatible.
The ONLY ones that will work are the 2013. The FX got orphaned for 2013 in that category.

Yeah KrazyED I have a 13 DS which is not as great as the new ones but is still an awesome bike.  I try to work out a ride with it when ever I can.
If you don't mind my asking just to see if my hypothesis is correct how many miles is on your 13 FX
I'm at almost 16,000 on my DS.
