Anyone know front wheel bearing size
« on: August 31, 2015, 11:41:57 PM »

I've got a 2013 s with the aluminum wheels, anyone know the bearing size before I remove the front wheel and replace the bearings, I want to have them on hand before removing the wheel

I realize a guess isn't much help, but they may be 6204 types (20x47x14).  My FX uses these in the swingarm pivot and both axles are 20mm as well, so Zero may be using them as wheel bearings too.

According to my invoice (I've just had them replaced after a nasty pothole incident)

37x20x09 mm

This assumes they have written them down correctly on the invoice, but I do tend to trust my dealer.

Thanks - that's great to know.  I think these may be 6904's; if so, they're quite small MC wheel bearings if only 2 per wheel are being used. I have a feeling they'll be high-replacement items.

I found a bicycle place that has decent ABEC3 rated 6904-2RS double sealed units, in stock for a reasonable price:

With an undersized bearing like this, I wouldn't use the typical non-rated or C3 large-clearance bearings available everywhere, and would try to find at least ABEC3 or CE tolerance.  I started using these in my ICE bikes and was surprised at the difference it made, especially in bumpy corners; they'll last longer too.

I've ordered 2 sets of the ntn premium bearings, total looks to be around $30 cdn , from a local jobber, so if I'm wrong on size I can exchange them, they came up with 6904 rs2 as well, I'll post once the job is done, I didn't get a chance last night as I had way too much power left to let it sit and go to waste! Electricity goes bad with age I'm told!

So I did my front wheel bearings last week and I can confirm that they are 6904 rs2, I'm glad I did because the cheap no name bearings that were in it from stock were worse than I thought, job takes about 1/2hr including front fender removal, the front axle clamp bolts are cheap as well as the caliper bracket bolts ,I'm going to get better quality replacement bolts for all on my winter teardown
