I have been monitoring the torque and power for several days now on my way to and from work with the app on my phone and have observed several things. First of all, when going right to full throttle from a stop, the 90 or so lb.ft of torque is not available. Torque seems to "gradually" but rapidly build from 0 to about 35mph and then peaks at around 90 lb. ft by about 40mph and stays around that level all the way up to 95mph. The Zero S isn't super quick off the line, but it really does pull hard once full torque is available. If I am just cruis ing around 35-40mph and go to full throttle full torque is almost instantly available. The other thing that is apparent is that the amount of torque available is dependent on the motor and controller temperature. Once the motor temperature was up to about 165 degrees F I could only squeeze out about 87 lb. ft of torque and a corresponding 41.7 kW of power. This makes sense given the controller will at some point be limited as to the amount of current it puts a out at higher temperatures and the windings in the motor become more resistive to current flow as the temperature of the windings increase . Given the FX is lighter I am sure it would accelerate from a stop faster than the S even if the motor wasn't capable of producing as much peak torque. The FX may also produce more torque at lower speeds. Anybody else have torque and power numbers they are seeing?
