SAE J2982 Riding Range City
« on: May 31, 2015, 10:39:44 AM »

I trying to find more info about City riding range, it seems to be based on the constant 55 mph test.
I would like to know how it is measured / calculated.

I get from Wavell Heights to Brendale (15k) with 95%, return I'm down to 91%.
Generally it doesn't take me very long to get there ;)
I get about 150 - 200km on the 11.4kWh battery scooting around town.
You can do the north end of the Gold Coast and return on one charge.
If you go into Nerang or Surfers a three hour charge will get you home.
I did Brendale - Maleny (back roads) return on one charge, rolling into the driveway dead stick.

Im in Wavell Heights too. :)
I know the ranges zero states , just want to know how they calculate city range, there must be some assumptions made for a model of city travel.
Is it a simple ratio of constant 55 miles / 113km or is weight and acceleration of bike also used. city is a lot of stop start , acceleration and braking.
Ratio seems to be about 0.6214

City riding range is based on the EPA UDDS, which has an average moving speed of about 30 mph, gentle acceleration, and very brief operation up to 55 mph.

In other words, the Government's EV version of the IC vehicle "Highway" mileage figures.   ::)

Thanks for that info on EPA UDDS, its just a artificial model of city driving. No relationship to constant speed range test.
