Brammo Empulse recall
« on: February 12, 2015, 04:35:27 AM »

I don't know if the Brammo Empulse has ever had a formal recall before, but they have one now:

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/recallresults.cfm?start=1&SearchType=DateSearch&date=01/01/2010&type=V&SCR323=false&summary=true&prod_id=0&PrintVersion=YES

Note the number of vehicles affected.  That might provide an idea of how many were built until July 2014.

Thanks Richard.  Very Good Find!!
I would've expected at least 5x and closer to 10x the number of affected vehicles.
As the technology and products improve hopefully more people should be interested in joining this movement.

I hate to tell you MotoRyder, but I found that news item on the Brammo Owners forum.

In addition to posting this in the Brammo section, it would be handy to include this recall notice in the "Electric Motorcycle Recalls" topic of the "Electric Motorcycle News" discussion category.

149 Empulses in 20 months.  Interesting.  Almost 8 per month.

Sounds like they were being hand-built.  Just like almost every other high performance electric motorcycle in production, except maybe for the Zero and certainly the BMW C-Evolution scooter.

No, a true Zero owner would have said "What's that transmission thing?" :)

To be fair this doesn't include Europe.

Brammo Quality Control just posted this link on the Brammo Owners Forum explaining the transmission leakage problem:

http://www.autoevolution.com/news/brammo-empulse-and-empulse-r-recalled-for-dangerous-oil-leak-92219.html

They also mentioned that they were working with the EU regulators to recall affected bikes in Europe to fix the issue.
