Type 2 Charging...
« on: January 25, 2015, 11:23:04 PM »

I've been looking into type 2 charging for my Zero-S recently. While Zero does a Type 1 charging cable, this is not that useful here in Europe where Type 2 connections are more far common than the Type 1 J1772 plugs.

As such these adapters look promising.

FYI, Level 2 charging won't charge your bike any faster unless you have external chargers like the Elcon 2500 chargers you can get from Hollywood electrics.  The onboard charger limits how fast you can charge, so it doesn't matter if you're using level one or level two it will charge at the same rate.

But if it opens up more charging locations, go for it!

I know, its the opening up more charging stations that's important to me. Three pin plugs, (and Type 1 J1772) have more or less been phased out on charging stations over here. So if I need to ride anywhere, then an adapter is really useful.

Extra chargers however would be also very useful. As such I'm pretty interested in what Brandons doing with that charge tank of his ( although I'm hoping there the option for a Type 2 connector on it ).
