As it happens, I sent an email to Zero just this evening with a suggestion. I commute into London every day and what better way to make the brand visible and stimulate word-of-mouth advertising than by using a Zero? There must be thousands of Londoners who would consider buying an electric bike for their commute if only they were aware of them.

I just visited Weather.com to check out my local weather forecast and saw a Zero ad.  How about that?

That's because you've been browsing Zero stuff lately. They're targeting their ads now, based on your history, your IP address (which gives them your location), and any other information they can dig up on you. They're very, very clever in doing so.

It really frightens me. They're going further and further in using your information and history to target you, and it's literally never going to end now. The genie is out of the bottle.

I don't doubt it.  The NSA gets paid whether or not they learn everything about us.  The marketing guys have more incentive to be creative.  The more they know about us the more money they can squeeze out of us.  Just take a look at those licensing agreements every internet company wants you to sign - like the one to get the Weather.com app.   ::)

I prefer to get plastered with ads from Zero etc than washing machine powder (or creams that will make parts of my body grow in size).

And why is it that everyone wants to fix my "registry errors" - whatever those are?   ???

Don't worry Richard, just send $100 to my Swiss bank account and I will remove all your viruses and registry errors.
