Zipper pull
« on: March 02, 2015, 11:52:59 PM »

So the zipper pull on my well-loved riding jacket broke the other day, and I was looking for another one. I didn't much care for all the eagle feathers, skulls and Harley logos that seem to be all that are available, so I decided to make my own. It just arrived today and I love how it came out! What do you guys think?

Looks good!

Did you get it 3D printed in metal?

Yep, gold-colored stainless steel. It's tough! I did modify the actual Zero logo a bit (it was too long and skinny to make a good zipper pull, and I made the thin spots on top and bottom of the circles just a bit thicker for strength), but then just extruded it to the thickness I wanted, filleted some of the corners and had it printed up. Cost me less than $25 including shipping.

Nice. I've had zipper pulls break on my tank bags & jackets too, and I go to "Joann Fabrics & Craft" where they have ones that clip onto the slider. Like these:

Do you have a Shapeways page for it or an STL file?

Yeah, that's what I was going to do, but I decided something a little more custom was in order.

I loaded up an STL file so it shows up on my account page, but it's not public.
