This looks very significant. 70% charge in 2 minutes and a 20 year lifespan for lithium batteries. I'll bet Tesla is following this one.

Interesting.. I have some Nanotitanate cells here that come from a research lab that can be charges at 15C ( 4 minutes) and last 100000cycles  bout the problem is that these require larger electrode and reduce the Wh/kg.. the one i have are also 1.8V lithium cells only and have like 1.8Wh for a 18650 cell wicgh is not enough.

I wonder if these 2 minutes cells have great energy density?

I saw that report, too, and while it's great news, it's missing some very vital information. In particular, how will it affect energy density, battery price, and how does it perform over temperature? Also, are there any major stumbling blocks in getting it to production?

It seems like everybody's got their own answer to next generation's best battery, but few of them clear all the hurdles and make it into production.

It did say something about it being easy to produce or could be put into production quickly something like that, but I don't remember the exact wording.

Sounds great for closed-loop hybrids. Probably not good for standard BEVs unless the density improves.

Shouldn't the title be "Yet Another Huge breakthrough in...."

We see these on this board about once per month.  Great promises with few details.  Cheap, fast charging, a billion times more energy dense, drive to the sun and back on one battery, etc, etc, etc. 

I still like seeing these articles, but am far beyond getting my hopes up of seeing something like this in the next few years.  I'll take 10% real increase in range per year any day (even if it is due to repacking the modules).
