Gotta have this Helmet!
« on: August 12, 2014, 06:56:27 AM »

This helmet was just released today as a crowd funded project. A high tech helmet worthy to be paired with me on my Zero  8)

I met those guys at Bear Mountain during the Energica Ego test ride.  Totally sweet helmet, looking forward to when they are available!

If you want to spend $1300 on a helmet you wont get until almost mid next year, then you go right ahead and pre-order it. While it does look awesome, personally, I am going to wait for version 2 or 3.

I'm betting on NUVIZ as an alternative, because it's a helmet add-on, and helmets are breakable things. It doesn't include a rear-view camera, but the FAQ has a good point that they could integrate with a camera mounted on the tail of the bike. Both approaches have merits, at least.

rearview on the helmet is so nice though, as you move your head you can "look around" behind you

Well, that does sound nice, but so does a fixed camera with no obstructions, like a passenger's head. :)

I'll bet that helmet is worth more than my head.   ;)

Come on, are you saying that you "early adoptors" of motorcycle EV technology are not worthy of a little gift to yourself?  ??? I for one think that the leaders in innovative technology (or adaptors of that technology) deserve something as a reward. It may not be this helmet but you believe you are worth something. You have just not decided what it is!

My $0.02 CAD, $0.0197 AUD, $0.0183 USD, 0.011 GBP...

According to the September issue of City Bike the kickstarter campaign for Skully Helmets was started on Indiegogo on the morning of August 11.  Two days later they had raised almost 1 million dollars.  I hope they use the money to actually produce and sell the helmets.

In the meantime, there is no end to unusual helmet designs:  http://news.motorbiker.org/blogs.nsf/dx/idea-a-see-through-motorcycle-helmet.htm

I might add that City Bike also published a short Energica Ego test ride article by one of their contributors who gave it a lukewarm (or so it seemed to me) review.
